As Senior Associate for Hewitt-Washington & Associates, Leonard Washington has coordinated the design efforts for a variety of projects including educational, medical, transportation, commercial, institutional and retail developments. He has extensive experience in architectural design and project management. Mr. L. Washington coordinated the design of the RTA Vehicle Maintenance and Operations Facility that houses offices and a fleet of 240 buses. He also served as lead designer for the RTA Riverfront & Canal Street Reguage Streetcar Systems project that included the design of streetcar passenger shelters and maintenance stations. With more than 22 years experience in architecture, Mr. L. Washington has become a pioneer in the design of educational facilities in the Gulf States Region. His work as lead designer for the Dr. Martin Luther King Elementary School for Science and Technology has been recognized across the country. The facility has received much acclaim for its state-of-the-art design and its stellar presence within the Lower Ninth Ward Community. Outstanding communication skills allow Mr. L. Washington to lead project teams through successful design processes. His careful attention to detail and his attentiveness to the needs of each client make him an excellent team leader for the firm's major design projects.
